Cantharan Schooner

The Cantharan Schooner was a ship from Nathan Lamont's game Ares. Although it only appeared once during a single mission, it still was kind of iconic to me due to its vertical wings. It also was featured in the intro for the game's 2nd chapter. It is, in essence, little more than a larger fighter. Same armament (2 laser cannons), better shields, but less maneuverable. The only real advantage over a fighter is its FTL drive.
I strayed quite far from the original blocky design, but I like the result. All the materials used (except for the honeycomb pattern) actually come from the original model, which was released a while ago.
The model is already 2 years old, but one of my favorites.

Some views. I figured the round center would be the engineering and reactor area, the pod on the bottom houses the FTL drive. There's also a small sleeping accomodation right behind the cockpit.

Here are the original model and my version side by side. I always thought the two huge nozzles are engines, but they're in fact laser cannons. The engines are at the sides of the central section.

In the closeup, you can see the low-res noise of the original material.
The tail fin is a homage to the jigger sail actual schooners have.
The large engine nozzle at the back of the pod is used for FTL propulsion.

A remake of the intro for Part 2 of Ares, using my model. The audio is original.
