Luna's Wand

Luna Delajour is a 16 year girl who hails from a long line of witches and wizards originating in Occitania. Her family, originally bearing the name Delazure, migrated to the US generations ago. The Delazure name, meaning "from the sky," evolved to Delajour over time.

Her wand is 32.6 cm long, the grip has a diameter of 2 cm (0.79"). The wand is made from Albony wood, a relative of Ebony, which often has Midnight Amber inclusions, increasing the wand's strength. The pearls spiralling around the grip are meteoric gold, tip and pommels are silver, the crystals blue kyanite. Luna loves anime, especially magical girl/heronine anime, so the wand has taken on a shape resembling a transformation wand, which are often found in such anime.

Luna has learnt to use her wand to project a blade of magical energy, which she uses like a sword. The blade can cut through pretty much any material (except blackrock and silver). However, it is not lethal. If she strikes a human with it, they will not be harmed, only stunned for a little while. It also requires a lot of energy to form the blade, so she can't maintain it for a long time.

I couldn't decide on a tip for the wand. A friend had the idea of crescent-shaped brackets, which I then modified. I chose the curled brackets because they reminded me of a flower, and, I think, fit best with the wand's theme.
