The Gladrias is a modern Vertanian design commonly used by soldiers. It is essentially a two-handed weapon but light enough to be used with one hand as well. While "Gladrias" may refer to any Vertanian blade of this design, correctly the name only refers to two-handed weapons. The one-handed version would be called "Cutelon".
Although the Gladrias' ancestor, the Uer Tanjii Glafridi, is over 1000 years older, there are still noticable similarities, such as the asymmetric edge and the rib-shaped "duvossae" style double guard ("duvossae" meaning "two bones" - the word for "guard" or "quillons", "vossae", in fact also means "bones").
Traditionally, the guards and pommel are still cast from bronze and the grip is often carved from palm wood. Some variations also have a leather-wrapped grip. Note that the pommel typically has a hole reminiscent of the original ring pommel.
