Obsidian Blade

No real background story this time. I watched one of Skallagrim's videos on Youtube where took some fantasy sword designs and adjusted them so they were more realistic and functional in their proportions. I liked the result of this one so I decided to try and model it.
The result's blade looked so dark it reminded me of obsidian, so I went with that.
I know you couldn't normally craft a blade like this from obsidian. Bite me. Maybe it's a material from some fantasy world with similar properties (which would make it HELLA sharp) that is less brittle.

The original had flame designs and I did intend to use those at first. However, it looked so trashy I couldn't bring myself to do it. If you can guess where the runes come from, you get 7 brownie points.

The sword's length is on the upper limit of a bastard sword.

I used the image of the original guard on the left as reference for the flames but discarded those eventually.

Okay, finally managed to get the upload to work. Textures are a bit lower quality because I had to make them smaller to get below the 50 MB upload limit.
