Blacksword

The blacksword is an unusual weapon of Dwarfish design. The blade is made from Skoldûr, a type of obsidian found only in the Wildlands. Only Dwarfs are capable of shaping it into blades. The weapon is used solely by Nightwitches.

The unusually long grip allows for increased range, as it is also used as a weapon against the dangerous fauna of the Wildlands.

A design completely different from the common seaxes and Viking or Anglo-Saxon sword types seen, the only part of the Blacksword that is reminescent of these weapons is the guard in the shape of a flattened disc.

The golden engraving on the rim of the guard reads "Lomân Dianâ ên Duskâ Orcus, trenâ ês chwid ad dên stal" in Barnochwes. It is a phase in Gweltunânâ and translates to "By Diana's Light and Orcus' Darkness, guide this blade to its mark".
