The Kamataan represents the pinnacle of 32nd century Austreydian ship design. It is one of the most advanced vessels gracing what was once Federation territory.
Somewhat resembling a Vulcan ship in design, these 600 meter long vessels have a long, slender primary hull with a ring near its center, surrounded by three nacelles. Ring and nacelles were not physically connected to the ship's fuselage.

After the Burn in the second half of the 31st century, the Austreydians were busy investigating alternatives to matter/anti-matter technology. Having experimented with various technologies before, they eventually developed a ship capable of producing power without an actual reactor by utilizing what they call "void energy".
The ring around the mid-section of the ship is a vast array of finely tuned quantum field modulators, designed to resonate with the omnipresent zero-point fluctuations in the vacuum of space. These modulators are so finely tuned that they can match the frequencies of these fluctuations, essentially "resonating" with the vacuum of space itself.
The void core itself is, in essence, a highly advanced form of quantum battery, capable of storing and deploying the energy on demand. The exterior of the core pulsated with energy. Sparks of energy arc across its surface when it activates, creating an awe-inspiring spectacle.
This method of energy generation has the added advantage that it was silent and nearly invisible to enemy sensors. Since it is simply tapping into the energy that is already present in the vacuum of space, it does not produce any heat or radiation that could be detected. The only sign of its operation are the telltale visual effects of the void core and the highly advanced systems running off of its power.
It also means that the ship only produces energy while it moves. However, a ship is always moving. Even when it is not flying through space, it often orbits a planet. And if it doesn't orbit a planet, it still orbits the galactic center.

This almost drove me mad. Had this idea a while ago and been working on it for some time, but it was cursed. Something always went wrong, and I had to redo a lot. Now it's finally done.
Austreya is not canonically part of the StarTrek universe, but it fits, and I liked the idea of designing a 32nd century Austreydian ship, so here we are. Was fun to imagine how they might have evolved technologically, and conquered the issues that arose with the Burn.
