Grasblað

I made this for a weapon design contest by Skallagrim. For some reason, "grass blade" got stuck in my head, no clue why. I liked the idea that a leaf of grass is also called a blade, so I used that as a base. Not exactly sure why I went with runes, but ah well.
The idea was to design a sword I could use if it were real. My left shoulder's mobility is permanently limited due to an accident, so although I like two-handed swords better, I couldn't wield one. Thus I made a one-handed sword. The leaf shape facilitates cutting, I made the tip pointier so it also stabs better (not really necessary, a leaf-bladed sword stabs just fine, but it looks more interesting).
The crossguard and pommel design were inspired by indian woodoats (thanks to Traumfalke for that idea).

Later on I adjusted the design slightly to reduce weight. Sadly it didn't even make honorable mentions, but I'm still quite fond of it.
